Do you have a favorite tree? Recently while listening to a sermon, our minister referred to a tree on the edge of a field.
Has this ever happened to you? That someone will say something and a whole experience unravels in your mind?
That's what transpired a few weeks ago. I saw myself with my daughter on our trip of a lifetime in Bali. We sat on our balcony that overlooked an enormous tree. In the morning we watched hundreds of birds rise up to the outermost branches and fly off for the day. In the evening, the birds would return back into the protection of the branches for the night.
This is a tree that I return to, in my mind, often. It's now become a symbol for how important deep roots are, as well as branches that reach skyward. As we age, trees can become symbolic for us. We want to stand tall, and weather storms. We want to be a refuge for others and to stand tall, to support ourselves, and others. We expand our horizons.
Reading “The Hidden Life of Trees”, I learned about a phrase, “the wood wide web.” Scientists realize how forests in general, and trees in particular, are intertwined. Trees communicate with each other, influence, and regulate their communities.
Isn't that just what we do? We share our wisdom, and tell stories. We hope to ease the next generation’s path. We want to stand alongside others, to support, and be supported.
That's why I started ARAY Wellness Coaching, to help women stand in their power, and speak their truth, to bolster their belief in themselves so that they can have a deeper stand in the world, and have enough energy to get up and do it again tomorrow.
Through your life, you've worked so hard to get where you are. It hasn't been easy. There have been joys and sorrows, pain and pleasure, ease and struggle. You've learned so much along the way. Now, it's your turn to shine.
It's so important for women to have energy to hold space, for others, and themselves. Trees do this through photosynthesis. You nourish yourself through authentic connection with yourself, and others, in the kitchen, through your work, and play. You strengthen your version of the wood wide web.
You’re strong, to allow thoughts, actions, and beings to fly away from your branches. This happens on a daily basis. You’re there to have the results return to you at dusk.
Revel in the beauty of your branches. Be the magnificent tree that makes the world a better place.
Record your journey. All of these ideas flooded into my mind while I was in sacred space. That’s the beauty of habit. Repetition creates ease.
If you would like to discuss your connection to nature, and your power, and energy, schedule a time to talk today.
The natural world gives so much. The similarities are striking. Think about your favorite tree. Watch it through the seasons.
